On-device pronunciation estimates

Unresolved words can receive estimates on your device, clearly marked Inferred. Available alternatives are optional; you can scan without choosing them first.

Unresolved words can receive on-device pronunciation estimates, clearly marked Inferred. A matching weight does not turn an estimated pronunciation into a dictionary-backed reading. Azad nazm analysis is experimental.

Use the editor to enter or revise your verse, then scan again. Drafts save automatically on your device, and a searchable notebook keeps the poems you are working on ready to revisit.

A few useful answers.

What are taqti and aruuz?

Taqti (also written taqtee, تقطیع) is the scansion of a verse into its metrical pattern. Aruuz (also spelled aruz or arooz, عروض) is the study of poetic meter. Lazvard combines word-level Urdu taqti, meter analysis and learning examples.

How do I scan an Urdu verse?

In the app, type or paste Urdu text with each misra on its own line. Choose Classical for fixed-meter poetry, tap Scan poem and inspect the meter and word weights. Experimental Azad mode explores recurring rhythm across lines of different lengths.

Can more than one reading fit?

Yes. More than one reading or analysis may be valid. The intended meaning, pronunciation and the poem's shared metrical family provide context; a metrical fit alone does not establish the intended reading.

Does scansion work offline?

Scansion, pronunciation inference, learning selections and the guide work without an internet connection. The writing workspace and notebook are also available offline.

Can I scan Roman Urdu?

This release analyzes Urdu script. Use an Urdu keyboard or paste Urdu text, with each misra on its own line.

What happens to the text I analyze?

Scansion and pronunciation inference run on your device, and your notebook is stored locally. Connected app usage and diagnostic reports use PostHog and can include individual unresolved words for dictionary improvement. Full poems, titles and surrounding lines are excluded from usage-event payloads; session recording is disabled.
